HISTORY
Magnolia Bible College was founded because of
the vision of the elders of the South Huntington church of
Christ, who saw a great need to train gospel preachers and
other workers in the kingdom of Christ. Classes began in
the fall of 1976 with nine students.
Rod Tate was the first President, and Bill Lambert served
as Interim President in 1979. Cecil May, Jr. became the
second president of Magnolia Bible College in 1980. After
his retirement in 1997, Gary Kirkendall became Magnolia
Bible College's third president and continued in that
capacity until the summer of 2000. In November 2000, the
board of trustees selected Leslie E. Ferguson, Sr. as the
college's fourth president. Dr. Garvis Semore was appointed
as the fifth president of Magnolia Bible College in June,
2005.
Magnolia Bible College is located on a picturesque campus
in Kosciusko, Mississippi. After twenty-six years of
preparing students for service as preachers, missionaries,
youth ministers, campus evangelists, directors of Christian
education, and for Christian leadership in local churches,
we remain true to our purpose as a Bible College.
We are committed to providing outstanding academic programs
with real-life ministry experience at an affordable cost.
In fact, Magnolia Bible College is the least expensive
baccalaureate degree granting Christian college in America.
Shortly after its beginning, Magnolia Bible College began
the process of accreditation, which qualifies it to grant
degrees.
In 1979, the College was provisionally accredited by the
Mississippi Commission on College Accreditation, contingent
on progress with national and regional accrediting
agencies. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
first accredited MBC in 1990 and reaffirmed the
accreditaion of Magnolia Bible College in 2005.
