New Member of President's Council
Magnolia Bible College announces the appointment of a
new member to the college's President's Council. The
Board of Trustees of Magnolia Bible College approved
the appointment at its April 22, 2006 meeting. Barry
Chapman of Germantown, TN is the Council's newest
member.
Mr. Chapman serves as the National Accounts Manager
for International Paper in Memphis. Barry, and his
wife, Cheryl, have three children: Suzanne, James,
and Jonathan.
In addition to his service at Magnolia Bible College,
Mr. Chapman serves on the Advisory Board at
Freed-Hardeman University, is an associate member of
PSSMA, and serves as the Chairman Emeritus of the
Executive Committee at Kraft Paper.
The Chapmans are members of the Germantown Church of
Christ, where Barry serves as a deacon and teacher.

New Director of Admissions
Bible College is excited to announce the arrival of
Travis M. Brown as the new Director of Admissions.
Brown comes to MBC after having served as the pulpit
minister of the Bay Minette, Alabama Church of
Christ. After receiving his B.A. at Magnolia Bible
College in 1998 Brown went on to receive a M.A. in
New Testament from Freed- Hardeman University.
While working in Alabama he also served as an adjunct
faculty member for Faulkner University at their
Mobile campus. Travis has also participated in
campaigns in Guyana. Prior to working with the
congregation in Bay Minette, Travis worked for the
Mt. Olive congregation in Vernon, Alabama.
Garvis Semore, president of MBC, said, "I first met
Travis several years ago at Maywood Christian Camp.
His academic qualifications, coupled with his
preaching abilities and love for the Lord, have
prepared him well to serve as our Director of
Admissions. I have every confidence that Travis will
help MBC move forward, especially in the area of
student recruitment."
Travis, and his wife, Ellen, have two daughters ,
CaraRae and Veronica Leigh.

Phillip Phiri

MBC Graduate Awarded Rotary World Peace
Scholarship
Phillip Phiri, a Magnolia Bible College graduate, was
recently awarded a Rotary World Peace Scholarship by
Rotary International. Phiri was selected as one of 70
recipients chosen to study at one of seven
prestigious universities worldwide.
Dr. Leslie E. Ferguson, Sr., former MBC president,
recommended Phiri for the award and Dr. Larry Routt
of the Kosciusko Rotary Club contacted Rotary
International for their consideration. Phiri, the
first winner from Mississippi, will complete his
Master's Degree at International Christian University
in Tokyo, Japan beginning in July.
A native of Zambia, Phillip will major in Public
Administration with an emphasis in World Peace and
Conflict Resolution beginning in July 2006. Along
with helping him plan effective programs for the
community, Phiri hopes to work with people of
different backgrounds seeking resolutions to areas of
conflict. He also plans to be active in administering
a school for training native Africans to be preachers
of the gospel. Phillip has an Advanced Diploma from
Southern Africa Bible College. He served as Minister
of Evangelism at the Chipata Church of Christ and the
Kabwe Church of Christ before coming to MBC. In his
work as executive director of New Life Behavior
Ministries-Zambia (www.nlbmzambia.org), Phillip was
able to teach behavioral transformation to prison
inmates and establish support programs for orphans
and women in the community.
Phillip preaches for the church in Maben,
Mississippi. Phillip and Vorryne, along with their
two children, plan to return to Zambia in February
before leaving for Tokyo. They are currently seeking
donations to assist them in their travels. If you can
